Popis The Covid-19 pandemic brought the world to a standstill with social restrictions and major changes in our learning environments. This paradigm shift in learning was a drastic step away from traditional in-person learning and an adjustment to innovative on-line learning to suit the times. This was no different in Nigeria as schools and other social institutions were shut down for the better part of the year 2020, and education was moved to the virtual classroom. In Nigeria, necessary resources for online education like access to the internet and computers is still a major challenge all over the country. Despite the lack of infrastructure at the disposal of Nigerian teachers for innovative learning, they were still mandated to carry out their lessons during this period. This research is qualitative in nature and will involve a survey carried out among teachers in Abuja given the quality of schools in this region which by standard and operations should be better than most schools in Nigeria. This research will discuss the support that teachers got during the pandemic, if any, and how much they were affected considering the economic situation in Nigeria. This paper will reflect on ways to prepare Nigeria and other developing countries for pandemics that could affect our education systems given the new variants of the COVID-19 and how unpredictable our environment has become and how Nigerian teachers can be supported to ensure that education in this region is sustainable. This paper will be a call for the evolution of the new learning space in Nigeria to enable teachers and students adapt to the new learning culture.
