She is the Head of the Department of Education at the Faculty of Education, Masaryk University.
Her main interest involves the pupil and his development. She deals with topics concerning the diagnostics ot the teacher´s activities in the classroom, the assessment of pupils and pupils´self-assessment. She also concentrates on the differentiation of instruction and teaching strategies, especially the project method, supporting the pupils´ learning processes in the heterogenous classroom group.
Her research focuses on inclusive education, assessment and self-assessment of the pupils´educational outcomes and the impact of both autonomous and heteronomous assessment on the pupils´development, their educational outcomes and motivation. In the research area she is also interested in the development of the professional competences in the initial teacher training.
In her dissertation thesis she dealt with the project method of instruction and its utilization in the initial teacher training. In her habilitation she focused on the inclusive education and comprehensive assessment of pupils. Her publications relate mainly to the above mentioned topics.
She is a member of Czech Pedagogical Society, Czech Educational Research Association and a member of the editorial board of Comenius journal. She is interested in the methods supporting pupils´ learning (she undertook the FIE training) and utilization of self-assessment in the process of self-regulative learning.
Thanks to her experience as a former basic school headmaster, she cooperates with many schools and teachers in the Czech republic. The cooperation involves primarily the field of education and development of teachers´professional competences.
