Citation
Description This chapter tries to understand what are the reasons that of Czech adults to participate or not to participate in formal and non-formal education. We found clear-cut differences between formal and non-formal sector. While participation in non-formal education is mainly motivated by non-job-related reasons, in formal education, on the contrary, the main incentives are job-related. However, job-related motives differ with respect to attained education. The pattern is clear: the more educated people are, the higher non-job-related reasons for participation they express. It can be hypothesised that more educated people understand meaning of education not only in terms of economic benefits it can bring to them but as a means to their personal development.
