Description The presentation described the methodology of dissertation research, whose primary aim is to determine the effect of incorporating explicit instruction on various concepts from pragmatics (e.g. politeness, formality, explicitness, implicitness) into teaching EFL students with the aim to develop their written communication skills, especially their ability to consider the addressee and extralinguistic context when producing their own texts. The selected research method is quasi-experiment and the respondents are university students of the Primary School Teacher Training programme. Moreover, the presentation introduced several related research studies regarded as relevant sources for the dissertation research from the methodological point of view.
