Description Using an anonymous standardized questionnaire Attitudes Toward Vegetarians Scale (ATVS) containing 33 statements on vegetarians, a deliberately chosen sample of 311 respondents - pupils of 4 high schools in city Kyjov was addressed. The addressed persons could respond to each item by choosing one option from the four-step scale. Overall, positive attitudes prevailed in the set. Girls tended to be more positive and compassionate for the vegetarians than boys, they were more tolerant to this lifestyle and less prejudiced. Attitudes in the group of younger and older pupils did not differ significantly. When comparing attitudes by individual schools, the most positive attitudes and tolerant attitudes were held by pupils of grammar school, then the students of the nursing school. The pupils of both professional schools were more negative and more prejudiced to the vegetarians.
