| Description | Specific dimensions of onomastics generalize the outcomes of the general theory and methodology of onomastics being understood as one “unit”: 1. Material dimension is the opposition of propriality and apellativity, i.e. the identification of an “individual unit”, proprial meaning, proprial object. 2. Language, structural and motivational levels of proper names, naming acts, proprial standard. 3. Interpretation dimension comprises non-language phenomena, i.e. communication as the source of proper names and setting of usage. 4. Functional dimension anticipates proprial complexity, non-systemic existence, functionality. |
