Description The publication Information Literacy with subtitle Theory and Education Practice is the result of activities of a partnership of academicians, teachers and university students. It brings a new view on the problematics of information literacy and its development in primary and secondary education into the czech educational environment. The fi rst impulse to create each thematical chapters was the absence of theoretical publication base and professional view on information literacy in the czech educational environment. What also projected in the publication are results of current researchs of Česká školní inspekce (Czceh school inspection) – the results regarding current state of information literacy development in Czech schools are not very pleasing. Related aspect of creation of the publication is an urgent need of enabling an implementation of functional foreign attitudes to information literacy development in Czech schools. The publication originated as a refl ection of author‘s long pedagogy practice and professional interest in problematics of information literacy. Authors‘ goal is for the publication to become a functional contribution to future teachers‘ interest of the topic among the professional pedagogy community, in the environment of pregradual preparation of future teachers at universities, and to fi nd its place in libraries and cabinets of teachers and other people interessed in information literacy and its development.
