| Description | These textbooks are intended for students of teacher-training programs for primary school as a teaching aid in the study of elementary geometry. The textbooks are based on the content of teaching geometry at primary school. Primarily, many concepts with which students are familiar from primary and secondary school are repeated and clarified. Furthermore, the essence of axiomatic construction of geometry, especially the creation of new concepts using the concepts previously introduced, is explained. Basic concepts are put into deeper context; some other issues related to the axiomatic construction of geometry are outlined. The textbooks are designed so that future teachers gain a proper perspective, which also includes linking of geometry with other areas not only of mathematics, but also physics, history, philosophy, etc. This aspect is particularly supported by the extensive introductory chapter and footnotes. The textbooks are complemented with a set of solved problems and unsolved exercises designed to bring deeper understanding of as well as more practice in the subject matter. |
