School Profile

We are a nine-grade elementary school long recognized as a member of the Health-Promoting Schools network. You can find us in the Brno-Bystrc district with good access to public transport and regional connections. A smaller number of pupils (under 500) allows us to foster a close-knit community where everyone knows and supports each other. We provide education not only to local children but also to pupils from nearby districts and surrounding villages. Our school is surrounded by nature, with a beautiful garden full of mature trees and spacious playgrounds where children can learn, play, do sports, and explore the world around them.

Unique Features of the School

Our school follows the educational programme called R O Z V O J (in Czech, this means “development” and is also an acronym):

  • RRadost (Joy) – This is what we strive for. We want children to experience joy from progress and reaching their personal goals.
  • OOsobnost (Personality) – We respect the natural needs of each individual, including their diverse interests and talents. We support their unique approaches.
  • ZZdraví (Health) – We care about a healthy environment in all its forms – teaching organisation, school premises, communication with pupils and parents, interpersonal relationships, and cooperation.
  • VVzdělání (Education) – We enjoy what we do! We teach effectively and meaningfully, using formative assessment and showing children that mistakes are a natural part of learning and growth.
  • OOriginalita (Originality) – We appreciate creative ideas and new thinking, even if they’re not perfect right away.
  • JJazyky (Languages) – We teach English from the 1st grade. From Year 6, pupils choose between German and Spanish as their second language.

Our Values

Our school is built on the social model of health, which focuses both on the whole organisation and on the individual. This approach creates a supportive environment that influences the perceptions, attitudes, and behaviours of everyone who learns, works, plays, and lives at school. It fosters a positive climate that shapes the way relationships are formed, how young people make decisions, and how their values and attitudes develop. Overall, we aim to create a space where everyone feels welcome and becomes an important part of the school community.
