From 2 to 6 june the Faculty of Education at Masaryk University proudly hosted its first Staff Week, welcoming international colleagues from higher education institutions across Europe. The event brought together administrative and academic staff with a shared focus on teacher education, providing a dynamic platform for professional exchange and collaboration.

This year’s theme revolved around innovative teaching methods, with a special emphasis on working with Generation Z, integrating artificial intelligence in both teaching and administration, and exploring the ethical dimensions of these technologies. Participants took part in a series of interactive workshops, panel discussions, and networking activities, sharing best practices and developing new strategies to enhance their educational environments. The group was small but truly international, with participants coming from Turkey, Portugal, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Kosovo. One of the highlights of the program was a school visit, which left a lasting impression on many participants.

“All the topics were very interesting to me. What made me happiest was the school visit. As a teacher, seeing different practices, school buildings, and learning environments is very important to me. That’s why I wish I had had the opportunity to observe more schools and lessons. The podcast activity was also very engaging. I returned home full of inspiration and ideas that had never crossed my mind before.”

Outside the official program, participants took time to explore Brno and enjoy its local culture. Some were eager to try traditional Czech apple strudel or learn more about regional wines, while others appreciated the city’s bike - sharing system and riverside running paths. There was also interest in local arts and history, including visits to the National Theatre and the Archaeological Museum to see the Venus of Věstonice. The program included informal networking opportunities such as a Monday evening reception, Wednesday BBQ with the faculty staff, and a Thursday Brno sightseeing - all of which created space for meaningful conversations and new connections. Participants expressed genuine appreciation for the well-prepared program and warm hospitality of the Faculty of Education team.

“Thanks for a fantastic week! Special thanks to Milena, Alena, Petra, Jan, and everyone at Masaryk University for the warm hospitality, enriching discussions and experiences, and everything you shared. Thanks also to all the colleagues from the participating universities, it was a pleasure to meet you, and I hope we'll have opportunities for future collaboration.”

As the event concluded, participants left not only with new insights and ideas, but also with new friendships and plans for future cooperation. Preparations for next year’s edition are already in motion - and we’re looking forward to welcoming another round of international guests to Brno!
