State Exam Format

The final Bachelor Exam will consist of two parts:

  1. Written Part (all in one day):
    • Linguistics Test
    • Literature Test
    • Methodology Test
  2. Bachelor Thesis Defense:
    • Happens in front of a committee
    • 10 minute visual presentation (Powerpoint, OHP, Poster, etc.)
    • Then the committee will ask questions about the themes of the thesis in connection with the course of studies in the department
    • The responses should show that the student has gained an integrated understanding from all of the specialities of the study (Linguistics, Literature, Methodology)
    • Points for the defense will be awarded based on 4 criteria:
      1. Proposed grade for the thesis.
      2. The quality of the presentation.
      3. The level of language use.
      4. The ability to respond to the committee's questions.
