Information for applicants for doctoral study

The doctoral study programme (hereafter only DPS) is designed for university graduates with the intention of gaining the academic degree "doctor" (abbreviated as "Ph.D.")

 Doctoral study at PdF MU is realized in these study programmes:

The modes of study are full-time and combined. Students of the full-time mode of study are not eligible for a grant.

DSP comprises:

Lectures, examinations, participation in seminars and courses, participation in practical teaching and the main part will be systematic work on solving a research problem which will result in a doctoral dissertation.

University graduates from the same or related field of study are admitted to the DSP on the basic of an adminission procedure. The condition for admission is passing an entrance examination in the relevant subject (methodology, specialised interview) and at least one foreign language (they can choose from English, German, French and Russian). The specialised examination tests an applicant´s competence for creative work in the field and his/her interest in researching a particular topic.

Admission procedure to the doctoral study programme (DSP)

It is organized once or twice a year, usually in January and in June, on the basis of a written application accompanied with an applicant´s CV, a certificate of completion of study, a list of publications, a project of the intended doctoral dissertation and possibly a recommendation by an employer if the applicant is in employment.

The standard length of study is 3 years: Theory and Teaching of Music, Pedagogy (study commenced before 1 September 2011), Special Pedagogy, Art, or 4 years (Didactics of a Foreign Language, Pedagogy (study commenced after 1 September 2011).
