About the department
The Department of Pedagogy focuses predominantly on pedagogical and research activity oriented towards the area of school pedagogy and pedeutology. There is also a counselling centre for teacher trainees.
You will find the Department of Pedagogy on the second floor of the Faculty of Education – Poříčí 31, Brno.
Study
The department provides instruction in pedagogical disciplines in most Bachelors and Masters teacher training programmes. Closer details about the course provider for individual subjects taught can be found on the web pages of the department.
Together with the Institute of Research into School Education and the Department of Social Pedagogy the Department of Pedagogy provides a doctoral programme of study in the field of Pedagogy.
The study of key pedagogical disciplines forms the basis of the so-called common core of teacher training, which is one of the prerequisites for successful teaching. Through ongoing updates of pedagogical theory and by reflecting on the issues in schools these days, the department´s staff strive to improve the quality of future teachers´ training.
