About the Department

Welcome to the web pages of the Faculty of Education Department of the MU Language Centre (abbrev. as CJV).

The Faculty Language Centre can be found in Building C – Poříčí 7 (in the courtyard).

Study

The Language Centre at the Faculty of Education provides teaching of “foreign languages within the common core” in the range of English and German (Russian has not been offered since the academic year 2011/12), for students of Bachelor's and follow-up Master's programmes of the following non-philological fields of study:

  • Teaching Assistant for Primary and Lower Secondary Schools
  • Disciplines Focused on Education
  • Teaching General Subjects for Primary, Lower Secondary and Upper Secondary Schools

  • Special Needs Education for Teachers

Organisation of language studies

FULL-TIME MODE OF STUDY

Bachelor's programmes

  • 2 semesters of compulsorily-optional courses “A“ and “B“ completed by an examination at B1 level of the CEFR after the 2nd semester of studies (enrolment recommended in the 2nd or 3rd semesters of study).

Follow-up Master's programmes

  • 2 semesters of compulsorily-optional courses “C“ and “D“ completed by an examination at B2 level of the CEFR after the 2nd semester of studies (enrolment recommended in the 1st or 2nd semesters of study). 

COMBINED MODE OF STUDY

Bachelor's programmes

  • 1 semester of a compulsorily-optional course completed by an examination at B1 level of the CEFR (enrolment recommended in the 2nd semester of studies). 

Follow-up Master's programmes

  • 1 semester of a compulsorily-optional coursecompleted by an examination at B2 level of the CEFR (enrolment recommended in the 1st semester of studies). 

DOCTORAL STUDIES

The department also organizes exams in English (PhDr. Jiří Vacek, CSc.) and German (PhDr. Marie Meszárosová) for the Faculty of Education Ph.D. students. It also enables students to take exams in Russian or Spanish, it arranges examiners and organises the teaching of French language at other faculties of MU.
